My Favourite Colour is Red (and other facts)

Freja by Patrick Demarchelier in Vogue February 2011
My Favourite Colour
is Red. This Red. Actually, I like a pinker shade also, a Cherry Red and the more orange-reds too. I like to think of a party with many beautiful young sirens dressed in black cocktail dresses and then me standing apart in a red satin number like the top center dress. Those photos above Freja are from Miu Miu's Spring 2011 RTW Collection and I couldn't be more thrilled with the colour choice.

Miu Miu has been my favourite line ever since I first became interested in fashion. It has all of the sixties sensibilities of Prada, but it seems to be designed for rich school girls who like to look as though they are retro and modern and futuristic all at the same time. There are also some very playful neon accents in this collection, so it is worth looking at the whole thing (click the link above!) What I like best about this editorial shot of Freja is that they flipped the collar of the jacket. The jackets were not worn that way on the runway and I think it shows the wonderful shape of the collar.

W Mag July 2010 "Lunch Break"

Whose Pretending it's the 60's this time?

So, I fell in love with this shot, which probably had more to do with Alex White's styling and the Miu Miu dresses than Terry's ... I guess it is technically a photograph, even if I don't want to call it that...

But then I saw the rest of the editorial and it was just so awful. I mean, compare it to my previous post of Peter Lindberg's work and I think it's plain to see that this editorial lacks the mood, compelling narrative and thoughful composition of Lindberg's pieces.

I realise that it's just a different style, and sometimes I really like Richardson's work - but I don't think the clothes (or models) were best flattered by this style of photography.

Tao was even in this editorial and I still don't like it. I guess it just goes to show that throwing Tao and Stam and 60s aesthetics and lolita styling together doesn't automatically win me over... I know, I'm as shocked as the rest of you! Thoughts?

That being said, this is "A really good look"
