Disney bases new Princess movie on smutty painting

SORRY KIKI, DISNEY ALREADY HAS AN INDECENT PRINCESS.

(I really love the painting, in case that's not clear - it's clever, it's pink and frilly, it's rococo, she has a darling hat and although it originally insinuated infidelity, I like to think it's actually a scene that is followed by a sexy 18th century menage a trois!)

Disney Princess Pin Up Illustrations

I saw J. Scott Campbell's books for sale in Heavy Metal magazine and I didn't think much of his work at the time, but now, after seeing this ...

This is pretty much exactly what I'm going to look like when I've moved to Disneyland.

Disney/Alice/Readership

my reader (I HAVE A READER!) Miranda of http://mirandagabriela.blogspot.com/ sent me a link to this picture from the blog Fashion is Poison... it seems that other classy young ladies share my love of all things disney and when they see a somewhat suggestively posed disney character - they think: hmmm, Kiki would like that.

I'm glad that is the kind of impression I give people. If only I posted enough to really grow my readership, I could spread this kind of perversity to the masses!

xoxo

Fallen Princesses

Obviously, I am deeply offended by these. It's not like Disney holds some sort of sacred position in my heart and mind and soul and our culture(err...) but I think that the stories themselves are steeped in enough victimization and tumultuous dark themes that they need not be repositioned (The artist talks about seeing the bloody beginnings of these stories in Grimms brothers which I think acknowlages my point) and this kind of re-imagining assumes the original Disney works don't have anything sinister in them and that the stories must be retold in a modern setting for them to be properly juxaposed. I think they ARE juxaposed adequately exactly the way they are in pop culture. Some modern philosophers posit that disney exists so that we can stand in the parkinglot and say "THATS NOT REAL, THIS IS REAL" and these pictures further that sentiment because they assume a juxaposition of the real and the fantasy where I am a firm believer that we are not looking at fantasy, but the hyperreal, and positioning "Fallen Princesses" in these settings is to assume that they are not fallen to begin with and that somehow the settings you have chosen are more real than the ones the princesses currently occupy - when what I think is that their current position in disneyland, in their stories and in their rampant commodification is MORE REAL than what you are looking at in this picture. And certinly more disconcerting.

The Mentalist

The Mentalist is my favourite show on television. You ladies probably don't watch a lot of TV, but seriously - is he a dreamy hunk or what?

I know he looks a little like a ken doll in this picture, but on the show he is always laughing and smiling. I like people like that, it makes me want to be around them!

I know he is married, but I would love to write him fan mail. Do you girls know where one would get his contact information?

ex.

Dear Mr. Baker,

Hi! I love your television show, The Mentalist. I find your character's confidence and cheerfulness to be very attractive. Would you say you posses these qualities in real life? I'm sure that you do, you seem sincerely positive on television. In my fantasies, you have a GIGANTIC cock. It's okay if you don't in real life. I heard many celebrities are shorter in real life. I know that you are married, but I think even married men, sometimes especially married men, like to hear that young women find them attractive. I think you're dreamy!

Although I am probably not your biggest fan (because I haven't seen any of your movies), I would love it if you wrote back to me. I am a 22 year old Canadian University student and my dream is to travel to Japan or be a Disney princess - hopefully both! I read that you are Australian, did you have to see a speech therapist? On the show you don't sound Australian at all.

Your adoring, nubile, sexy, young fan,
- Kiera

post-halloween to do list

Alright, seriously, HOW DID I MISS THIS!?!?
I must be better prepared next year.

I think I will go shopping to the ....sexy-type stores... in town, just after halloween and try to scoop up some sale costumes. I'm sure all of those left over knee high socks from incomplete sexy school girl costumes will be really cheap. Also, I can try to pick up the following:

1. (on the internet) A discounted replica battle royale collar
2. A discounted snow white costume (for obvious reasons), preferably an official disney "prestige" or "deluxe" costume...a cheap slutty one will do though.
3. Discounted slutty shoes, including gogo boots, mary janes, ect.
4. Dicounted frilly/bow covered socks and underwear and lingerie.
5. Discounted star wars costumes of any description.
6. CANDY

Getting Personal

A response to Veronica's Q&A...

1. Who are you? Kieran O’Brien

2. Who/what inspires you? My friends constantly do, like Kim who doesn’t take crap from anyone or anything or Veronica who has the most exquisite taste and level head or Ish who has read, like, everything or my sister who is such a good student. The memory of my great grandmother…wow, that got heavy fast. The rest will be lighter, I promise.

3. What are your obsessions? (rightly so, Vero, if I had an iphone I’d be obsessed with it too.) Japanese Lolita Fashion, sex, Harvest Moon, the facebook app. ‘Pet Society’ – which is really just a manifestation of my obsession with cute stuff! Super kawaii! – sex, ANTM and sex.

4. What is your dream occupation? I got what you were hinting at Vero, you naughty naughty girl!

Everyone knows my dream occupation is to be a Disney Princess. More (or less?) realistically I’d like to be a translator of literature/poetry (but I don’t know more that one language! Lol) or an artist/writer (but I don’t do either, super lol). And in crazy-go-nuts fantasy land, I’d like to be the editor of a trendy magazine (Sassy? Nylon? Vouge? An all-powerful hybrid of the three…) or a famous photographer like Annie Leibovitz, but also a model, only sometimes, humbly and shyly emerging from behind the camera...

5. If you could buy anything, what would it be? Weird. For some reason my material libido just died. Just now! I would say either a dvd copy (which does not exist) of the independent movie I was in when I was 14 (for like 2 minutes, but that is way longer than the ½ second I was in Double Jeopardy for), a movie I never saw because it was inappropriate for children, a movie called The Hot Karl. OR this giant hello kitty fountain that was installed in New York this summer.

6. What attracts you? I agree with Veronica on the wit. I would say a shared passion steeped in both knowledge and intelligence.

7. Who is your ideal man? I am into pretty boys. To adapt the sagacious words of Mr. Ludacris, I want a “gentleman in the street but a freak in the bed.”

8. Who is the most handsome person on planet earth? Because Vero already picked Daniel Craig, I pick this guy - He might be the prettiest though, not the hansomest. Damn.

9. What do you think about fashion? Veronica told me “fashion is the ultimate fantasy.” So that’s how I think of it, not of something I could ever actually afford to do, but something I love to dream about. I think that’s what top designers are doing anyways, the clothes are just their dreams and it doesn’t really matter if anyone wears them or not. Art for art’s sake.

10. What is your biggest dream? one day, i hope to have a polar bear. BAM.

Disney!

Vero knows I went gaga over the first few photos by Annie Leibovitz for Disney's year of a million dreams...This blog links to all of the photos (of every celeb from Giselle to Abigail Breslin). This one is a masterpiece though.

Quick! Everyone post their favourite Leibovitz photo.
