DOS&DON'TS OF LOLITA

Alright, I came across these street snaps by KERA magazine (second only in my mind to the GOTHIC AND LOLITA BIBLE when it comes to reporting on lolita fashion) and MARUIONE.JP which is like a department store with an website that sells Japanese brands internationally.

DO (I GUESS...)
These girls are all wearing the same dress in different colours with standard accessories, in standard colours. Although I would do backflips of joy if I had said items - they are all by Angelic Pretty and they are NOT from the newest line. This dress or similar ones, patterned with sweets, are typical of sweet lolita.

DO (FOR REALS)
The girl below has all the same themes: bow in the hair, knee highs, mjs, cute purse (hello kitty's bow)...BUT it's done in butter yellow, which compliments her beautiful tan nicely. Although it is sleeveless it is the correct shape (bell skirt as opposed to a circle skirt) and length for a lolita dress.

DO (BABY STEPS)
Alright, the girl on the left is doing a very safe and classy version of EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita). This is a good transition outfit for people like myself, who are baby-stepping into the style. Also, this is why you should go as pikachu for halloween next year, Vero!

DO (ACCESSORIES)
These are my step-ones. Like my frilly socks, if I slowly accumulate the following items I will become closer and closer to my ultimate goal - SWEET LOLITA!
one and two: HEART SHAPED PURSE, same one...I don't think it's the same girl though...but it looks so much like her...
three: adorable stuffed companion!
four: parasol!
five and six: I miss having pink hair. These are wigs though...so I could just get one.
six: Bonnets! I NEED ONE. More than any other accessory.

more to come...tune in next time for the don'ts!
