Barbie Runway - Post One of Many

My initial favourites from the Barbie 50th Anniversary Runway Show. I know you guys were counting on my to cover this. Sorry it took so long. I am suprised I did not favourite the Betsey Johnson Number as well, but it was a green eighties prom dress, so, neither pink nor kawaii enough for me.

Rachel Roy, Nicole Miller and Koi Suwannagate's designs for Barbie's 50 Anniversary Runway show, shown on the left and right, respectively, above.
“I love Barbie’s fun spirit! She makes me think of happy outfits and bright colors. I think of ‘pink butterflies’ representing her femininity,” said Koi Suwannagate. (INSTYLE, like the photos.)
Nicole Miller's checkerboard trapeze dress and swing coat is the third outfit she has done for Barbie, filling a childhood void from a time when her French-born mother wouldn't let her have one of the dolls.

"I always envision Barbie in that '60s mode - I made her mid- to late-'60s mod," said Miller. It's a version of a dress Miller put in her very first runway show, worn by Linda Evangelista. "It was the season she was a blond. I immediately thought of that outfit." (msnbc)
